Cancelling your borrower insurance in France from abroad
Living outside France and want to cancel your loan insurance? Here is the process, done remotely, and a sample request.
Cancelling loan insurance only makes sense once a new contract is accepted by the bank, because the loan must stay insured. Everything can be done remotely.
What to know
The bank requires your loan to stay insured. The process is therefore to get a new contract accepted, then cancel the old one on the agreed date.
How it works from far away
- By e-mail, phone or WhatsApp, no need to visit the agency
- We prepare the cancellation request and the replacement file
- You sign the necessary documents remotely, depending on the contracts
- The old contract is cancelled only after the bank agrees
Sample request (to adapt)
Subject: cancellation of borrower insurance contract no. [number]. Dear Sir or Madam, please cancel my borrower insurance contract no. [number], covering loan no. [number], with effect from [date], as it is replaced by a new contract accepted by my bank. Please confirm the effective date in writing. Kind regards, [name, address abroad].
This sample is indicative: form and deadlines depend on your contract. Ask us to check it before sending.
How it works
- You contact us by phone, WhatsApp, e-mail or at the agency: free analysis, no commitment.
- You send your documents: loan offer, current insurance contract (if any), amortization schedule, ID or passport.
- We study your situation and look for solutions with the insurers we can offer.
- You choose, and we handle the steps with your bank.
Frequently asked questions
Can I cancel by e-mail?
Depending on the contract, by letter or electronically. We check the required form before sending.
What if I cancel without a new insurance?
Your loan would no longer be insured, which the bank generally does not accept. Do not cancel before the bank accepts the new contract.
